My Children's Christmas

As we do every year, we went all out on our children for Christmas. This is the only time of the year when they receive new toys and electronics, so it only matters to do so. So far we have no complaints with all of the electronic items that we purchased this year. We bought out older two iPods 8gb which we got for $197 each at WalMart (I though was a great price!). The are working perfectly as I thought Apple products would. Our only complaint is what we bought out 7 year old this year, the new Meep tablet fro Oregon-Pacific.

They make such great learning devices and I heard great reviews about it so we decided to purchase from Toys R Us for $149.99. I thought this was a fair price as well. We had no problem with the firmware update. A problem that apparently many are having according to their Facebook pages Meep Tablet- Europe and Meep Tablet- US. This is only one issue. The overwhelming response to the Meep and high numbers sold have created the servers for the Meep portal, used by parents to register and set up parental controls, to crash so no one is able to set-up the Meep and the children are not able to play unless they are using the preloaded content. Which is a bummer because most of it is downloaded onto my tablet and he has played multiple times. My son was looking forward to something new and fun that gave him little grief for Christmas. Oregon-Pacific should have been prepared for this. So, now thousands of children are driving their parents insane about when they will be able to play with their new tablet that Santa has brought them for Christmas. I have to say that I am very disappointed and by reading all of the Facebook posts, I am one on many.

Meep Tablet- Europe has provided a lengthy statement of apology and updates on improvements. Meep Tablet- US has only provided a 3-4 sentence paragraph not explaining anything or providing customers with explanations. Very poor customer service. A lot of parents are returning the Meeps for this reason alone. I won't be returning ours but I doubt that I will spend money if any at all on content. I hope the children get some free stuff out of this. They deserve it!
